Genre-Bending Novel, a Compelling Speculative Fiction by Criminal Defense Attorney Christopher Shipman

ST. GEORGE, UT, July 6, 2021

Christopher Shipman’s novel, contracted with E.L. Marker, tells the story of Noah Batson, a passionless office worker who has a terrifying visit from the ghost of his long dead grandfather–a man he never met. The ghost instructs Noah to tell his grandmother, Miranda, that Noah sees her husband. When Noah passes the message along, Miranda doesn’t seem a bit surprised. She presents Noah with a mysterious key which she says her husband must have intended for him.

The visitation from his grandfather and the receipt of the mysterious key trigger a series of baffling visions that lead Noah to a safety deposit box in a small, isolated Washington town where he hopes to find answers. Meanwhile, the world is experiencing its own paradigm shift as hundreds of thousands of people are reported missing in a matter of months. All are from major cities. None return

The intersection of these two storylines–a mysterious exodus of people from population centers around the world and a young man grappling with internal forces he doesn’t understand–and its intricate blend of adventure, mystery, science and philosophy, make for a compelling work of speculative fiction.
